Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

We are celebrating on this Sunday Alum Day! Celebrating more gotcha days and preparing for St. Patrick's Day. Check out the great photos below.

Picture
Mom Frances had a few friends over to celebrate Winston’s (formerly Easton) 1 year gotcha date. This senior gentleman is doing great in Durham NC, likes urban walks and tolerates the cat.

Our 2020 alum Tucker (formerly Tugg), 2018 alum Amelia, 2010 alum Java and 2012 alum Kimmie are preparing for St. Patrick’s day.   All 4 found their forever home in their foster home    Kathy and Bob have fostered 12 dogs for SEGSP going back to 2009, but they just couldn’t say goodbye to these four.

Every foster dog comes with their own history and challenges and Kathy and Bob have a ton of experience with just about every issue.  Amelia has been fighting squamous cell carcinoma since she entered rescue (she now always wears a sun shirt).  They could write a book (hmmmmm…).  Thank you Kathy and Bob!

We got a special Valentine's Day wish from 2014 alum, Miss. Money Penny. We could go broke buying those kisses!

This month, we have a bunch of 1st Gotcha Day's to celebrate. We hope this first year with your fur babies has been amazing!

Happy Gotcha Day to Buddy (formerly Saint Nick), Comet, Ellie (formerly Rochelle), Frankie (formerly Frack), Nova, Queen and Riley!

Gotcha Days, Chickens, Socks and more...

WOW! We are overwhelmed with the response to our new blog post. Thank you all for sharing your updates for Sunday "Alum Day." Here are some of the notes and photos we have received this week:

It's cold outside so alum Andy is hunting from inside where its nice and warm.

Samuel, 2021 Georgia Alum, gives his forever home two paws up!!! He has been the perfect buddy for dad, Asher, over these last several months and he can’t imagine a better fit!

Asher said, "I received a late Christmas gift from my dad Friday; he told me to, “Wear them to work and say, ‘My dogs are barkin’!”

Barkley (formerly Anna, 2016 alum) is celebrating her 6th 'gotcha day.' From their first meeting (photo 1) to today, her life is filled with love. She likes to spend her days chasing the sunbeams around the house waiting for "her kids" to get home from school.

2021 Alumnus, Peppers is still coming out of his shell.

From his parents, “Though he is completely loveable as is, I don’t think we’ve seen the full scope of his wonderful personality yet. Some new things we are seeing: wanting to play with other dogs at the dog park, Much calmer at home, Great on walks. It really does take them at least 3 months to adjust.  He gets lots of pets, hugs and kisses from us. He shows his love to both of us.  We couldn’t be more grateful for him.”

And we couldn’t be more grateful for our awesome forever families who love our alums and help them live their best lives!

This photo is surprisingly not staged!  2020 Alum, Maya, formerly Mya, really doesn’t mind the chickens at all.  WHO’d have thought?!?!

"We just celebrated Scout's 2nd Gotcha Day and his 10th BDAY!  No one can believe he is 10 years old - he still runs like a youngster.  He is ball obsessed and is rarely spotted without a chuckit in his mouth.  Similarly, I am the master of the universe when I possess the chuckit stick.  My neighbors get a kick when they see him with it on our walks.  He thinks he's clever when he drops it mid-walk unnoticed and we have to back track until we find it (thus, doubling the walk).  He has quite the repertoire of tricks (sit, stay, lay, roll over, circles, weave through the legs, high five, and play dead) but, the best is when he just wants the treats and starts doing ALL the tricks at once.  He may be the smartest GSP I've had.  We can no longer keep bird food as he was breaking into it and spilling it in front of the shed to lure birds in.   He is very independent and often stubborn, however, he turns into a love bug when the sun sets (or, snow/rainy days).  We have had a blast!  He goes to work with me everyday and there is hardly a time when we aren't together.  In fact, I'm the one with separation anxiety, now."

Do you have an alumni update for us? All you have to do is email us at SEGSPAlumniNews@gmail.com a photo or video with a brief update and we will share on our Sunday blog posts.

Welcome to SEGSP Rescue's newest page, an alumni blog! We want to keep you updated on all the pups that have been through rescue, but don't want to overwhelm your social feeds. So we are reserving Sundays for "Alum Days" and will post a blog update each week for your enjoyment.

To kick it off with an example, check out the update below on Scout, a 2017 alumnus.

2017 SEGSP Rescue alum, Scout (formerly Onyx) just won employee of the
