We have some great updates for you this week. So many of our alumni simply living their best lives! We hope you enjoy all the updates in this week's Sunday Alum Day blog post about Baby, Cricket Mae, Rilee, Stella. Heidi, Miss Money Penny, Truffles and Mae B. Bird.BabyRobin, Baby's Mom, wrote to us and shared, "Baby was rescued by SEGSP and was known as Cleveland then. She got adopted and became Roxey. Well after multiple times of escape, Gene and I were asked if we would take her. What a gift. She makes us laugh. She is very vocal and pushes dad around. She is such a different dog since we took her in. She wouldn’t get out of the car the other day because she wanted more travel time. She is all GSP (stubborn and demanding) but we love her anyways." Cricket Mae (formerly Umbra)We got a phone call from Foster Umbra’s now known as Cricket Mae's, dad yesterday with an update. She was proudly one of the Dogs of Honor at their beach wedding and loved the beach especially digging holes in the sand. She has had a busy life already with her new family. She has become a regular at Dunkin Donuts where they all know her by name and known her order before she has to ask, the local ABC store keeps ready whip and cups In a mini fridge for her and she goes and lays behind the counter while dad shops. She goes on fire/rescue calls with dad and has become the fire station mascot. She loves her ribeye medium rare and her bourbon properly aged, you know the expensive stuff. She liked to chase the wild turkeys and take dad on mile long hikes instead of him going to work. Clearly she is living her best life!!! A note from dad; She definitely is a daddy’s girl and stolen our hearts. She is my snuggle buddy and knows if she gets on her back daddy will rub her belly till she snores. Her and Mork did a 400 lap race after a squirrel this morning in the back yard. Not sure who wore out first them or the squirrel. Lol. She is so full of love she just has to feel safe to share it with you. She will finally lick me on the face when I ask her for some sugar. Rilee (formerly Cash)Our recent alum Rilee (formerly Cash, one of the 10 puppies) has graduated from obedience class – YAAAY Rilee! From his new family, “Rilee B Cash Freeman is doing great! He is attending puppy classes and is rockin farm life. Rilee has so easily become part of our family unit that we don’t remember what life was even like before he was in it. He is so smart and sweet. We are so fortunate. We are in love” Stella (formerly Estelle)From her mom Lisa, Stella (Estelle) is living her best life! Give her a comfy couch and a fenced in yard to roam, and she’s a happy girl! Rescued from SEGSP Rescue…estimated to be about 13 years old. Miss Money PennyMiss Money Penny is loving life at her home. Her mom Heidi posted this photo on our senior day post on Facebook and we are excited to share. She is about 12 years young now. HeidiHeidi is celebrating her one year anniversary with Ross & Yvette. Her parents say she is doing great and they absolutely love her. TrufflesFrom mom Cheryl, "Truffles, 12 years old, who we got in 2010 from Beth Cochran (who founded SEGSP Rescue) is doing great. We love Truff with all of our heart & so thankful that Beth was her first Mommy." Mae B. Bird2012 Alum Mae B. Bird and her mom Catherine, who creates our dog dolls (for adoptions and memorials), had a wonderful week with their great nieces and nephews. Great Niece Abigail Ivey painted Mae's portrait and Catherine had them printed on t-shirts for their week together. Adorable! Where has this year gone? Can you believe it's the end of July!?! I know, we can't either. (Though we think a lot of us are ready for the cooler Fall weather!) Chick ('22 alum) and Grace ('20 alum)Chick and Grace are doing one of their favorite activities... a morning spin around town, with the top down! Walker ('22 alum)Our recent alum, Walker (formerly Eli in FL), is doing amazing. He earned his AKC canine good citizen title and earned his AKC novice trick title. He is competing in barn hunt regularly and training for agility and dock diving. WOW – you go Walker! Congrats! Louie ('20 alum)Celebrated Louie’s ~7th birthday and his 5th gotcha day on July 1. We are so thankful for this smart, loving & calm boy. His favorite things are still short car rides, morning walks and belly scratches! We are forever thankful to SEGSP for bringing this guy into our lives! Mattingly ('22 alum)Hi! Maggie Mae’s new mom here. (She was also called Cherry for a bit.) But her new forever is Mattingly or Mattie for short. I know this pup has had a few names already. We went with Mattingly as he was one of my favorite Yankees growing up and “Mattie” was a hat tip to her previous name Maggie. That's all for this week! Keep sending us your updates. Not sure what to share? Here is a little reminder below.Your pupdate can be as short or as long as you'd like - but we recommend 1-5 paragraphs. Please send 3-5 recent photos of your GSP.

Send it on over!!!From Daddy's girls (and boy) to an adventure loving guy... we have lots of smiles for you today. Check out what recent alums Goose, Paleo, Luna and Willow are up to in their forever homes!"Hey, we are the Forbes family and we adopted Goose on March 30! He has settled in really well. We have 7 acres, not entirely fenced, so we spent the first two months with a 50 foot lead on Goose working on his recall and teaching him the boundaries! He made great progress and I certainly got my steps in! We have worked really hard together and now he can run the property, hunting chipmunks and squirrels, chasing lizards and frogs, and hopefully he knows at the end of the day, he has his forever family who will love him as he deserves to be loved! We run and walk every day with our other two dogs and he loves his routine! He is getting better and better on the leash. We visited our lake house twice, and he absolutely loves it! He never wants to stop swimming or come into the house, just like when he’s running around at home! I am just so proud of him for all the progress that he has made. He is the sweetest dog and greets everyone that comes to visit us just looking for a pat on the head. He gets so many compliments everywhere we go on how beautiful he is! The vet even said that she felt like he came from very good breeding! Thank you again for honoring us to be Goose’s forever family!" Our recent alum Paleo is doing great! He rides twice a day with his daddy and is loving his life. And we LOVE to hear that – YAY Paleo! Quick Update on Luna’s latest adventures! I think it is fair to say she is a “Florida Girl” now. First fish, first trip to North Captiva Island and an adventure with Ollie a week or so ago. We love her so much and she has fit right in with us! My husband is a charter captain (On Point Charters & Tours) and a fellow captain saw us leaving harbor today, he texted asking if it is fair to go fishing with a pointer on board helping to find the fish! HAHA. She is so loved by our whole family. Willow (Brown) is a recent alum from SC. Her mom says, "She’s doing fantastic! We are totally in love. Attaching a few pics — she and Jackson love to play and he’s really pepped up since she joined our family in March. As you can see she’s also a daddy’s girl" Keep sending those updates!! We love a full inbox to share with you. Our email is segspalumninews@gmail.com.Happy July! We are excited to continue to share some amazing alumni updates with you this week for Sunday Alum Day. SEGSP Rescue volunteers and supporters LOVE to know how our alums are doing. Thank you for sharing.Chick (April 2022 alum) and Grace (April 2020 alum) have become best friends and insist they be taken to the dog park at 6 am followed by a car ride down ocean drive to cool off and walk on the beach! It has taken Chicky a while to come around and she is still skittish at times, but she will walk into a room to join the fun and get a few pets or snacks! Baci (formerly Sig) is doing so well he’s about 12 years old now and LOVES nap time! This is recent alum Coco. She enjoys every afternoon in our backyard with her siblings. She is fitting in with the pack perfectly. Yesterday, I found her sleeping with Neron, my older dog, for the first time. They shared the bed for the whole night. Of course Arena, the queen of house, was a little jealous. HA! Dixie came to us as a 4 yr old hunting dog with bad joints but a sweet disposition. Now, she has become our beloved pet. Going on 9 yrs old, she still loves to chase squirrels,(even up a Palm tree!) swim, go on walks & cuddle in our laps. She has been a wonderful edition to our family & we are very grateful to SEGSP Rescue. Izzy (Isabelle) from SC was adopted on June 12, 2022. Her parents wrote to us to say she has been doing great! She and her new brother, Crash, play non stop and enjoy hanging out together in the backyard stream! We are absolutely in love with Izzy and are so glad she is a part of our family! We cannot be more grateful to you all. Thank you for all that you do! That's a wrap for this week's issue. Remember, keep sending us updates! Have a wonderful week.Three awesome updates for you this week for Sunday Alum Day! Check them out, with the great pictures, below!Wanted to send an alumni update on Hawk as we are about to celebrate his 6th “Gotcha Day”. Even though Hawk is now close to 8 or 9 years old, he still shows some puppy tendencies specifically with his activity level! He enjoys going on runs and long walks and until he gets his exercise, he walks around the house crying and moping. His two human siblings love playing with him, giving him random hugs and kisses and cuddling with him at night. We cannot imagine not having Hawk as part of our family and we are so thankful for SEGSP Rescue for connecting us with him! Thank you for all you guys do for these amazing animals! They truly are the best! Just wanted to give you an update on our Derby girl! Derby has been busy this summer working as a therapy dog and loving life! She was born to love on others and she does it soo well! We continue taking her to school to keep her skills sharp at Rucker Dog Training in GA. Scot has helped us train her to be the best dog ever! She even has her own Instagram account where you can keep up with her journey! Follow her on Instagram at derby.Carolina. We love her soo much! Thank you Eslinger family! I adopted Tallulah (aka, Miss Tallulah Mae) in May 2021. She was featured on your “Other Dogs to Adopt” page. We lost our sweet boy Waylon in June 2020, and Miss Lula has helped make our family whole again. She is such a sweetheart and a total dopey girl. We just love her so much! Remember to send your updates to us. See you next week! This week on Sunday Alum Day, we celebrate! We have 6 sweet babies that have just had their first Gotcha-versary in their forever homes. Look how happy they each are below.Colt, Fisher, Luna, Neo (formerly Scout), Hanz and Sunny... thank you for letting SEGSP be a part of your journey. We are so glad you have found love and happiness! You all saw the call, and boy did you answer! Our hearts are so happy with all the alumni updates we received this week. The most fulfilling part to our volunteers and fosters is hearing updates about dogs that have been adopted to their forever family. Thank you for sharing. "That looks yummy, I has some?" Remington (Remi) was adopted in 2015 and has an amazing life with his family, the Mullen's. They say he is a great dog and have enjoyed all the years they have had him! "We adopted Hank (formerly Dan, mostly brown head) in the spring 2015 after we lost our previous pointer from New England GSP rescue . We aren’t sure of his age but now he’s somewhere between 9-12 years old. He is a sweet goofy boy who keeps our first ‘baby” GSP Dixie 16 years young! He even tolerates his 2 feline siblings. He still loves to go for walks, chase squirrels and when he’s excited jumps around like a kangaroo. He’s been a great addition to our family and we can’t imagine not having our Hankster!" Thank you Laporte Family for spoiling your pups rotten and sending us such a wonderful update! Kota was adopted in October 2010 as a rescue from an illegal puppy mill in South Dakota. Beth Harless fostered him & felt he’d be a good fit for the Barker Family. According to mom, Lauren, "He was our 7th foster dog and never left!" We are told Kota enjoys being on a comfortable dog bed, napping, warm spots to sun bathe, being around his people and daily 1-2 mile jogs, even as a 13 year old! Kota is a dream dog and is an ambassador for SEGSP rescue everywhere he goes! Hi mom added, If he could choose he would eat eggs or pizza for every meal! (Me too, Kota, me too!) "What did you say? I heard treat. Yes, for sure, it was treat!" This week was Fisher’s first gotcha day. From his mom, Cheyenne, "I cannot believe it has already been a year since we adopted this sweet precious boy. He is so goofy and always keeps us laughing. He is our wild one that keeps us on our toes constantly. You really never know what Fisher may do next. At the end of the day he is all cuddles and snuggles and is extremely attached to my husband. One of the things you hear so often with this breed is that they are eager to please. I have never witnessed a dog more eager to please than Fisher. When you tell him “good boy” he get so excited his tail looks like it is vibrating it starts moving so fast. I just started brushing his teeth a couple of weeks ago. At first he was a bit hesitant and as soon as I told him good boy he was all for it. On the second day he was happy to let me brush them with no hesitation and without a fight. He just recently started to enjoy fetch and he absolutely loves fruit especially watermelon, poles and blueberries but like with most GSPs his favorite food is whatever is on our plate. He is still on the smaller side which means he fits in your lap just fine!" We hope you enjoyed these updates as much as we did! Please, keep them coming. And stay tuned for the next Sunday Alum Day update!

He has a broken tooth and a lump we are monitoring, but overall is a healthy, strong boy and has gained about 7 pounds!
