Cinderella (now officially Cinder) has found her family! Cinder is officially off on her fairy tale adventure to be a beach dog in South FL! Her foster mom Carrie said, “I think her and her new sister Zoe will quickly become good buddies. We had a good cry on the way home, but we are so happy for her and her new family!”
Cinderella received several very good candidates for adopting her. Her foster mom Carrie did an amazing job determining the best fit for her, especially for a first-time foster! Thank you, Carrie, for fostering Cinderella and preparing her for her forever fairy tale. And congrats to Cinderella, Zoe, Meara and Mark! Sometimes, when it's meant to be, it's meant to be. Longtime fosters for the organization, the Schaffers, never intended to adopt one of their foster dogs. But something was different this time...Her new mom said, "This past weekend Piper informed us that she does not want to leave us. I explained to her that I had already posted her online and was reviewing applicants for her forever home. She looked at me, with the tilt of her head, and said, 'but Mom, this is my forever home.'
In all seriousness, we thought Piper would be like all of our other fosters, hard to say good-bye, but knowing that was best. Fostering is so heartwarming and we have always said if we had 4 of our own, it would be difficult to foster. We have said good-bye to 6 GSP’s that we fostered and it was hard, but we knew they were going to the forever home that was perfect for them. But, Piper has touched our hearts in a way that is different from the others. And her canine siblings have confirmed this. After much thought and soul searching, I realized something……WE were the perfect forever home for Piper. She is so comfortable here and our pack has accepted her unconditionally. She came to us a little insecure, but she quickly gained confidence and fit in perfectly with her new siblings. We are very thankful she is now a part of our family. Thank goodness we have a Honda Passport that all 4 fit in quite nicely and hopefully, we will be able to afford the boarding fee when we are out of town! And who knows, maybe there is another foster in our future….. stay tuned!” Congratulations to Piper and the Schaffers. We are so grateful for all you do for SEGSP and we are happy for you all! Piper is shown below, posing front and center, with her new pack. Doesn’t she look so proud? Pop the confetti, Rosie has found her perfect forever family! Rosie came to us after her owner had a stroke and had to make the tough decision to rehome her while she regains her health. We promised her we would take care of Rosie, and Rosie’s foster parents, Kesslers, were amazing with her and chose an amazing family, the McCoys! Thank you to the Kesslers for all you did for her.
They said, “Today is a bittersweet day! It’s the day we say goodbye to our foster dog, Rosie! When you foster a dog, it’s inevitable they will find a way into your heart. Rosie absolutely captured ours from day one with her sweet demeanor and her abundance of love and affection. We really hoped Rosie would find a home where she could be the star and not have to fight for attention, well she found it. The McCoys welcomed sweet Rosie into their home where she gets to be top dog and can be showered with attention from four humans! Rosie and her foster family picked the McCoys because their laidback and calm personalities matched Rosie. If you’ve ever met a family and walked away saying, “they’re such nice people!” Then you met a family like the McCoys! Rosie takes a while to warm up to new people, but she warmed up to them almost immediately. She excitedly jogged all over the park with their two kids and tried to stow away in their car to head home. We are so excited for your future with your furever family Rosie. We will miss your cuddles and happy face, but know you have what you needed with the McCoys!” The McCoys have shared that Rosie is happy as can be and the kids are heads over heels in love with her. Rosie will get all the love and attention her former owner could have dreamed of, and she is going to have the best life in her new home. |
