Sometimes, when it's meant to be, it's meant to be.  Longtime fosters for the organization, the Schaffers, never intended to adopt one of their foster dogs.  But something was different this time...Her new mom said, "This past weekend Piper informed us that she does not want to leave us.  I explained to her that I had already posted her online and was reviewing applicants for her forever home.  She looked at me, with the tilt of her head, and said, 'but Mom, this is my forever home.'

In all seriousness, we thought Piper would be like all of our other fosters, hard to say good-bye, but knowing that was best.  Fostering is so heartwarming and we have always said if we had 4 of our own, it would be difficult to foster.  We have said good-bye to 6 GSP’s that we fostered and it was hard, but we knew they were going to the forever home that was perfect for them.  But, Piper has touched our hearts in a way that is different from the others.  And her canine siblings have confirmed this.  After much thought and soul searching, I realized something……WE were the perfect forever home for Piper.   She is so comfortable here and our pack has accepted her unconditionally.  She came to us a little insecure, but she quickly gained confidence and fit in perfectly with her new siblings.

We are very thankful she is now a part of our family.  Thank goodness we have a Honda Passport that all 4 fit in quite nicely and hopefully, we will be able to afford the boarding fee when we are out of town!  And who knows, maybe there is another foster in our future….. stay tuned!”

Congratulations to Piper and the Schaffers. We are so grateful for all you do for SEGSP and we are happy for you all!

Piper is shown below, posing front and center, with her new pack.  Doesn’t she look so proud?
