After a lot of thought and consideration, Maverick has decided on a name change…for his foster family.  He’s decided to call them his forever family and he’s staying put!

From his dad, "I found SEGSP and we started a journey by applying for one of the dogs in foster care in the last year or so.  I was blown away with the process and how each person involved spoke highly about the rescue. We made it to the top 3 families for that dog, but ultimately, another family was chosen.  We ended up becoming fosters and first fostered Goose, and because this boy loved to run, we knew that his perfect family was elsewhere.  We found him an amazing family with a giant farm.  A short time later, another dog, Tag, needed a foster home.  We said yes.  Once we met him, we knew he wasn’t going to leave. He has so much personality and is just amazing. We’ve had Tag for just over 7 months.

When we got the call about fostering Maverick, I knew from the beginning that we weren’t going to be able to let him go. He was just a baby (five weeks old) and I slept in the floor with him for a few nights to make sure he was comfortable. He quickly learned who his brother and sister were and that they wanted to play just as much as him. He learned from the older dogs to go outside pretty quickly. The kids wanted to hold him nonstop and we all just wanted to watch him. He was just what we always wanted-a little puppy for the kids to grow up with. He constantly reminds me that he has the attention span of a goldfish and is always on the move. He has shown us all that with a little patience you can learn anything. We are really blessed to be able to give him a forever home, and to watch him learn and grow."

And from Maverick's mom, "SEGSP has been a blessing for our family, for our boys Tag and Maverick, for our first foster Goose  and so many more GSPs and their families. We recommend SEGSP to anyone and everyone that will listen. We encourage people to volunteer for this wonderful opportunity to help these beautiful dogs in any way possible. Every bit of help from volunteers is greatly appreciated by everyone we have come in contact with through the rescue. We have met wonderful people and dogs along our SEGSP journey. We will continue to volunteer each and every time we can. We even have the opportunity to let Maverick see his brother and continue that relationship with his family throughout the years.

Tag and Maverick have a forever home that is filled with love because of this amazing organization. Our boys are some of the most intelligent and athletic dogs we’ve ever been around. Andrew has wanted a GSP puppy for as long as I can remember, and Maverick has filled a spot in our hearts that we will forever cherish."

Sounds like a match made in heaven.  Congratulations to Maverick and to the Moores.  And thank you for your service to this organization and to these amazing dogs.  We are lucky to have great volunteers like you.
